While Chelsea have had time to recover from their Champions League match and also have a free week after this fixture, the same cannot be said for Man City, who have to travel to Dynamo Kiev for the first leg of their last-16 clash in the European Cup on Wednesday. The schedule has not been kind to Manuel Pellegrini and it is thought that the Chilean will select a second-string team ahead of what is a winnable European tie next week.
Man City haven’t been able to string together a decent set of results since Pep Guardiola confirmed he would be joining, I thought this would have taken the pressure away from Pellegrini but it seems to have taken a negative effect amongst the squad.
On the contrary, Chelsea have actually hit a bit of form in comparison to the way the rest of their season has panned out. A big win against Newcastle seems to have put the wind in their sails, and they will be going out to win this tournament, I can’t see them resting many stars.
